Start the savings habit

Open a savings account if you don't already have one. You may already be putting money from your grandparents and parents in a jar‹take it to your local financial place so you can earn interest on it and so its safe.

Pay yourself first Every time you get your allowance, birthday money, or work money, save some of it. Decide how much you want to save right away so you don't spend it.
Build an emergency fund Save some of your money for emergencies. You never know when your goldfish will go belly-up!
Don't try to save too much too fast Keep enough money to treat yourself and save the rest. This way you won't have to dig into your savings and take out more than you want.
